HK Plans Air-ticket Giveaways to Japan in a Bid to Boost Tourism

Registration for free flight tickets from several cities in Japan will begin on Monday (June 26) as part of the “Hello Hong Kong” campaign to lure back visitors and revitalize the tourism sector.

Cathay Pacific will give away 12,000 free economy-class round-trip tickets for flights to Hong Kong from Narita, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo.

The distribution of tickets will begin from noon on June 26 until 11.59 pm on July 2 under a lottery system. Passengers will still have to pay taxes, fees and other surcharges linked to the flight.

To qualify, entrants must be over 18 and have a membership with Cathay Pacific or sign up before participating in the giveaway.

Two other local Hong Kong airlines will also hold ticket giveaways.

From June 26 to July 9, HK Express will provide 14,900 free round-trip tickets to Japanese residents on a first-come, first-served basis. The start time of the campaign is yet to be announced.

Entrants are required to make bookings for their trip between June 30 and March 30 on the HK Express website during the giveaway period.
